Deed
of Trust
A
legal document used to transfer real estate to a trustee, like
a mortgage. Allows
for foreclosure without the necessity of a lawsuit. For
example, when you purchase a car you get a title that is the
legal document that declares who has legal ownership of the
car. A deed is essentially the same thing for real
estate. In some states you do not get the deed until the
house is paid off. In other states, you get the deed
right away.
